Andrea Ghoneim and I actively participated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Andrea held a workshop with Nicholas Kanaris about &#8220;<strong>ePortfolios: Context and Platform<\/strong>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li>and I presented our poster during the ATS2020 poster session: &#8220;<strong>A Pattern Collection for Formative Feedback and Assessment<\/strong>&#8221; (more about it below)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There were so many impression and so many nice people I met &#8211; I try to summarize my experiences in this blogpost. But first, for those who may not know so much about ATS2020, a brief introduction:<\/p>\n<h2>What is ATS2020 about?<\/h2>\n<p>ATS2020 is an Erasmus+ project with the aim to develop and pilot a learning model, which supports transversal skills like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Autonomous learning<\/li>\n<li>Information literacy<\/li>\n<li>Communication and collaboration<\/li>\n<li>Creativity and innovation<\/li>\n<li>Digital literacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ATS2020 learning model is based on a learner-centred ePortfolio-approach, with a focus on assessment for learning and formative assessment:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_465\" style=\"width: 690px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/imbstudent.donau-uni.ac.at\/isabellgru\/index.php\/2017\/03\/14\/ats2020-meeting-in-zagreb\/learningcycle_680\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-465\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-465\" class=\"size-full wp-image-465\" src=\"http:\/\/imbstudent.donau-uni.ac.at\/isabellgru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Learningcycle_680.jpg\" alt=\"ATS2020 Learning Cycle\" width=\"680\" height=\"345\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isabellgru.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Learningcycle_680.jpg 680w, https:\/\/www.isabellgru.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Learningcycle_680-300x152.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-465\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ATS2020 Learning Model &#8211; a Cylce<\/p><\/div>\n<p>During the pilot, more than 1000 students in 10 different European countries participated. The pilot was analysed through quantitative and qualitative research methods.<\/p>\n<h2>The Final Conference: Showing Outcomes of the Project<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_798\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/imbstudent.donau-uni.ac.at\/isabellgru\/index.php\/2018\/02\/06\/ats2020-final-conference-in-brussels\/dvblh_mw0aiqeyb\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-798\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-798\" class=\"wp-image-798 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/imbstudent.donau-uni.ac.at\/isabellgru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DVBLH_MW0AIQeyb-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Good Coffee at the Flemish Parliament :)\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isabellgru.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DVBLH_MW0AIQeyb-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.isabellgru.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DVBLH_MW0AIQeyb-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isabellgru.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DVBLH_MW0AIQeyb.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-798\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Good Coffee at the Flemish Parliament \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At the final conference, we presented the outcomes of our research, experiences from teachers, students and project partner and our various project outcomes! <strong>250 people registered<\/strong> for the conference, so we were quite a crowd of people. The conference took place at the Flemish Parliament and by the way, I was quite impressed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/17340030609\/videos\/10155822225145610\/\">the artwork of Jan Fabre, which was hanging from the ceiling<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>In the morning session of the final conference a lot of interesting presentations were held &#8211; I especially like the one by<a href=\"http:\/\/electronicportfolios.com\/\"> Helen Barrett<\/a>, <strong>&#8220;Grandmother of ePortfolio&#8221;<\/strong>. She underlined the power of ePortfolios as tools for storytelling and that storytelling allows us to find ourself step by step. It&#8217;s forming our identities. Or as a good friend of mine put it: <strong>Telling story about ourselves in an ePortfolio makes us believe in ourselves.<\/strong> It is like a mirror (there is by the way also an ePortfolio pattern, called <a href=\"http:\/\/imb.donau-uni.ac.at\/ats2020patterns\/2017\/10\/24\/my-mirror\/\">&#8220;My Mirror&#8221;<\/a> by Baumgartner\/Bauer, also a crucial aspect for the recognition of prior learning!)<\/p>\n<p>I was really touched and inspired by Helen Barrett&#8217;s presentation, also about her daughter&#8217;s story she presented about her teaching experience abroad. This truly is the power of storytelling.<\/p>\n<h3>Policy Recommendations<\/h3>\n<p>Based on the research during the project, policy recommendations were formulated and presented at the final conference. I am actually quite happy about the policy recommendations, I think they really make sense and could help to improve learning experiences at school. I presented it at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.purplsoc.org\/\">PURPLSOC Conference 2017<\/a> in Krems, at the moment the paper is about to be peer-reviewed and hopefully (keeping fingers crossed) it will be published. I wanted it to be useful and easy approachable, not linear in text like in the paper. So <a href=\"http:\/\/imbstudent.donau-uni.ac.at\/isabellgru\/index.php\/2017\/11\/09\/pattern-collection-for-formative-assessment-went-online\/\">I decided to put the pattern collection online<\/a>. It is still under construction a bit, I am improving it day by day. Of course, comments, suggestions for improvement, hints what might be missing, etc are 100% welcome. This was so impressive. I felt really touched. At Rosalia Castro High School in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) they accomplished so much &#8211; they showed so many learning artefacts and they even got into the S<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.es\/2017\/06\/27\/este-profesor-ensena-lengua-y-literatura-convirtiendo-a-sus-alum_a_22492261\/\">panish Huffpost<\/a>, were interviewed at a radio station, etc! But I could name here so many impressive presentations of schools, not only Rosalia Castro High. I also had great talks to Croatian, Slovenian and Irish teachers.
